Open Books, the television pilot starring musical theatre divas Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti, has not been picked up by CBS. The New York-set comedy would have focused on book editor, June (played by Benanti), and her tough-cookie mom (played by LuPone). Can you picture what it must have been like? Gypsy set in the world of boutique publishing: ” I had a dream, a wonderful dream, Papa. All about June and the Random House circuit….”

The new Glee album hits stores today. The third album, subtitled Showstoppers, features covers of songs from the musical theatre canon like “Rose’s Turn”, “I Dreamed a Dream” “A House Is Not A Home” and “Home,” as well as a number of pop hits sung in the show. Two versions of the album have been released: the 14 track standard recording and a deluxe edition with 20 tracks.

Liza Minnelli’s new recording, Confessions, will be released in September this year. Accompanied only by a piano, Liza will perform songs like “I Got Lost in His Arms”, “He’s a Tramp”, “I Must Have That Man” and “At Last” on the disc. The CD is available for pre-order on Amazon.
