Three free readings In Love with Jobim, a new jukebox musical that forms part of the York Theatre Company’s Developmental Reading Series, will be held starting tonight. There will be two evening readings at 19:00 today and tomorrow, with an additional reading at 15:00 tomorrow afternoon.
With a concept and book by Ernest Chambers, the show uses the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim (with English lyrics by Norman Gimbel, Gene Lees, Ray Gilbert, Jon Hendricks, Jessie Cavanaugh and Jobim himself) to tell, according to the press materials, ‘the story of a love triangle full of humor and heart’. Jobim’s most well known song is probably “The Girl from Ipanema” and the show includes that popular song as well as other hits from this Brazilian songwriter, such as “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars” and “One Note Samba”. The cast features Ron Bohmer, Tim Jerome, Jennifer Sheehan and Nick Spangler.
More information regarding reservations can be found at the York Theatre website.
