Sondheim at the BBC PROMS

Sondheim in StudioThis season of the BBC Proms with use its July 31st concert to celebrate the work of Stephen Sondheim to celebrate his 80th birthday. The Proms are an annual classical music event in the UK and this year they will take place at the Royal Albert Hall between July 16th and September 11th.

Sondheim at 80 will feature Bryn Terfel, Maria Friedman and Simon Russell Beale, along with singers from the BBC Performing Arts Fund, performing the extracts from Sweeney Todd (billed on the Proms website as a horror-opera!) , A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Company, Pacific Overtures and Sunday in the Park with George. The concert will be directed by Martin Duncan, with David Charles Abell conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra. The BBC Proms will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and on television channel BBC2.

    We saw Ms. Friedman at the Kennedy Center’s Sondheim tribute in Washington, and she was absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing her–and go to the Royal Albert Hall!

    I know it’s probably hopeless but I need some help for a course I am on. I am.looking fir a copy of the BBC Rooms celebration of Sondheims 80th celebration at the Albert Hall. I am not worried if it is a copy. Do you know where I can get one, please.
