Throwback Thursday: “Flash, Bang, Wallop!” from HALF A SIXPENCE

HALF A SIXPENCE

Hands up those of you who know the catchy number “Flash, Bang, Wallop!” from the musical, Half a Sixpence.

Whether you do or not, you’re sure to enjoy this performance of the song from the 1963 Royal Variety Performance. All right, my empathies lie with those of you that find Tommy Steele annoying. I do too, but have a listen to the song itself.

A kind of cousin to “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins, it is as rousing and energetic, with a great set of lyrics that all are a variation of the central image of the song: the wedding photograph.
